Our guests have just left after a lovely week seeing some of our beautiful country.

It was a pleasure hosting them and we visited some places together that we had not seen either!

Of course we put on a great weather show, with an amber weather warning for rain and flooding. Several rivers locally burst their banks as we had the equivalent of one months rain in 48 hours. As you can imagine that's a lot of rain. There were photos in the media of cars floating along in the water and emergency services trying to clear roads for traffic to get through. We spent approx 1.5 hours in a traffic jam to travel one mile on the motorway. Finally, it stopped raining and we did manage a dry, sunny day touring in Edinburgh.

A few particular highlights of their visit included St Andrews which was hosting the Dunhill Cup golf tournament. This is a charity game with celebrities vs amateurs. We found it by happy accident and it was great to see that they had a nice calm day for playing (well, on the day we were there).

We visited Edinburgh (our capital city) to see the castle, the royal mile, have lunch at my favourite cafe called the dome and of course, take lots of photos. We also visited the Enchanted forest in Pitlochry. This is an evening event hosted by the charitable community trust where you walk through the forest for approx 2 hours and there are huge light shows, animations, statues etc. It really is a fantastic event to visit if you are ever in Scotland. It was our first time and we will definitely return next year. It is only on in October to very early November and you need to get tickets early for it.

Today, we are back to work and our break is over. I'm getting ready to travel soon myself for work, so that will be the next adventure!

Below are some highlight photos from our places visited.
