I don't mention family members specifically very often on my blog, but this share is all about my big brother in law Peter.

Peter has just achieved something so amazing that he has been told only 45 people in his age group have achieved it.  He is one of only 1449 in the UK and approx 12800 worldwide. Peter just completed what is known in the marathon running world as 'the big six'.

He has officially run Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York and, as of last month, Tokyo marathons.

I think you will agree that his commemorative medal is absolutely stunning!

For those of us who didnt know, a marathon is run over the distance of 42.2km or 26.2miles. Add in some hills, twists and turns and that's a truly super human achievement!!

In reality, Peter has actually ran over 30 marathons in his life. What makes all of this even more impressive, is the fact that he did not actually start running until he was in his late thirties, and, of course, you don't start running by attempting a marathon!

Peter also holds another impressive record. He has run the Edinburgh marathon here in Scotland every year since it began. He is part of a group of 14 runners that have achieved this. Each year, the group number decreases a little as the members decide to retire from their running career. We believe Peter is now the oldest member of the group at 67 (not really polite to ask people their age right). 😊 They call themselves the AYE (All years Edinburgh). This year will be the 20th in person marathon (covid meant running it 'remotely' for two years, its weird even writing that!). I hope the organisers do something really special for this group!

I don't know how he has the mental fortitude to do it. He runs rain, hail or shine and it's extremely rare if he misses his training.

He trains hard and when you hear him speak about running, you can't help but get swept up in his passion and enthusiasm.

His wife is super supportive, travelling with him, making sure he is good to go, and is normally found standing, waiting to cheer him as he crosses the finish line!!

In this family, Peter is and always will be.... a legend! We are all so proud of him, and we can't wait to hear all about his next adventure.
