Last night we bought a new fire pit for the garden.
How wonderful are half price sales!
We have been wanting a bigger fire pit for a while, but they are pretty expensive. So needless to say, when we saw the big discount, we just had to have it 😁
We decided to test it immediately of course and make some s’mores. There’s something amazing about cooking outside and feeling warm and cosy. S’mores are the perfect blend of crunch, chocolate and soft, gooey marshmallow! (If you have never heard of them, they are usually Graham crackers (from America) with a layer of your favourite chocolate on top and then you toast your marshmallow in the fire, add it on top of the chocolate and another cracker on top). I love the flavour of Biscoff biscuits, so I use them.
Campbell and I sat together watching the flames for hours, talking, telling each other stories from our previous week and making plans for the future.
We are planning a new permanent gazebo (which will need to stand up to our ‘lovely’ Scottish weather) so we can enjoy the garden even during winter.
We have plans to add a pond, as the one that is currently in the garden has lots of holes in the lining.
In truth, we have more plans than time right now! We have so many ideas to continue our journey in making the house and garden a warm, inviting place, where our family and friends can come to relax and recharge and hopefully, when they leave, they leave feeling better than when they arrived.
Every time I sit in the garden, I feel energised. Some days I just want to watch tv and veg out (and those pyjama days are great), but even if I get in the garden for a wee while, I always feel better. There’s something magical about having a space outside (a larger garden like ours, or a balcony or local park) that you can go to and forget any of your worries.
For me, my garden is my happy place. It’s my sanctuary away from the stresses of everyday life and I love it!
